Personality

He seems to be a loner, living alone in a house in the forest, but in fact really enjoys the company of others and is pretty open. He's very friendly and loyal to his friends. He has the common sense to know when killing is necessary, but ultimately really hates any kind of cruelty. He's very self-confident and won't stand for being harassed. There are only two things that he considers himself to be insecure about; his crooked tail, and terrible sense of direction.

Appearance

History

Karou has been Konoe's home since birth. He wanted to stay away from contact as much as possible due to his strange abilities. Though one night, when Konoe has a stange dream he sets out on a journey that will change his life forever.

Along the way, he meets Rai, Asato, and Bardo, as well as having encounters with the Devils and the strange Poet. Only to be led to Leaks in the end.

Common Route

- SPOILERS!! -

Konoe starts off in the game in his hometown, Karou, after a day of hunting. He goes to meet up with his close friend, Tokino, the next day, but gets into a fight with a local cat named Sin over territorial disputes. He meets up with Tokino, who brings food and news to Konoe. When Tokino leaves, Konoe gets a bad premonition, and notices that another sacrifice is going to take place soon. If he chooses to think about the sacrifice, his empathetic power allows him to hear what Keiju and Naki, the sacrifice and his lover, are talking about, revealing the desperate state of the starving Ribika.

When he goes home to sleep, Konoe starts to have a nightmare of him in a strange location with four different colored lights. A green snake chokes Konoe and asks him a question. He wakes up, questioning whether or not that was actually a dream. The next day, he encounters a crowd of cats around a fortune teller. The fortune teller foresees a bad omen, and warns Konoe that something evil is coming his way. That night, he has the same nightmare again, except with a yellow snake. Over the course of two more nights, Konoe has the same nightmare, but with a blue snake and a red snake, respectively. Unlike the other nights, the fourth nightmare doesn't end soon, but instead, all four colored snakes forcefully enter Konoe's mouth and into his body. He wakes up, filled with nausea, and falls back to sleep from exhaustion.

The next day, Konoe wakes up to realize a strange pattern adorns his wrists and arms, and his ears and tail have turned black. Legend of an unlucky cat matches Konoe's current description, so he avoids going outside his home. However, he is told that he is the next sacrifice. Konoe wants to avoid death at all costs, so he attempts to flee Karou that night to go to Ransen. He successfully escapes the village, and encounters the Poet, whom he had met earlier in Karou, inside the Forest of Illusion, who guides him to a place to rest.

When he wakes up, the Poet is gone, and instead, he encounters a strange creature, Firi, who seems to know a lot about Konoe. Konoe's power of acute empathy is awoken, and he is able to see strong memories embedded in artifacts. Konoe advances in the forest after Firi leaves, but encounters two bandits. Konoe is overpowered, until Rai steps in to help. He is ordered to run away, and in doing so, he falls down into the Valley of Yuukoku. When he gets up, he is apprehended by Asato, and taken to the village of Kira, where he meets Kagari, and is allowed to stay the night with Asato. Asato and Konoe bond with each other in the night, until the Kiran cats attempt to kill Konoe, suspecting him of being part of the Meigi, the rival clan. Konoe escapes the bloodthirsty cats, while Asato is ordered to find Konoe and kill him.

After Asato catches up with Konoe, a creature destroys Kira, and then pursues the two cats, who run away. They determine the creature was a devil, and as the two talk, Konoe reveals that he is from Karou, not Meigi, while Asato reveals that he has never been outside of Kira, and is afraid yet curious of the outside world. Asato is clearly hesitant about killing Konoe, and Konoe does not see Asato as a threat, so Asato is allowed to join Konoe's party [insert RPG new party member music!] to go to Ransen. The next day, Konoe wakes up to find Asato missing, and is attacked by Rai, who constantly orders Konoe around and takes an interest in the stubborn cat. Rai divulges his name and his hometown, Setsura, and is attacked by two rival bounty hunters. During the battle, the rival pair acts as a Sanga and Touga duo, and Konoe's powers as a Sanga awaken, while Rai's insane nature is seen for the first time. Konoe finds out that Rai is also headed to Ransen, and tags along with him.

Not too long later, the two cats arrive at Ransen, and find an inn to stay in, with its owner out. After Rai goes upstairs, the owner, Bardo, comes back, and has Konoe watch over the reception desk. Rai discovers Konoe's hidden ears and tail are black, and Konoe explains what had happened and why he came to Ransen. Rai offers to train Konoe as a Sanga, and to break his curse, suggesting they visit the Enchantment Master the next day. Rai takes Konoe outside to find a bar for information, and in the alley, they encounter Ul and Kil, who, like Firi, also seem to know a lot about Konoe. Knowing that they can't defeat the duo, Rai and Konoe run, and Tokino finds them and assists in their escape. Rai is then acquainted with Tokino, and Konoe explains the circumstances to him, who offers Konoe support. That night, Rai starts Konoe's Sanga training, and then his sword training as well. After their sparring session, the Poet appears before Konoe again, and through a song, reveals the location of Bojyo.

The next day, the pair goes to find Bojyo, who confirms that Konoe is indeed cursed, but cannot see Konoe's future. He also discovers four shadows surround his soul, and confirms that they belong to devils. A larger shadow trails Konoe, and is the one behind the devils. Bojyo advises Konoe to find a place with four colored lights. Rai suggests they leave Ransen and set out for the location, but they say goodbye to Tokino first, who prays for their safety. Along the way to Yonshokuno Hikarini Mititati, Asato attacks Rai, thinking Konoe is in danger. After clearing up some misunderstandings, Asato rejoins Konoe's party, while maintaining hostility towards Rai. As they get closer to their destination, Firi appears again, and offers a warning or taunt to Konoe, and divulges that his master is Leaks, the infamous sorcerer.

The group finds an almost empty village, save for one cat, to stay in along the way, as they cannot see the colored light without the day moon. Later in the night, the cat in the village is revealed to be dead, and was manipulated by a magic song. The other deceased cats in the village also awaken and start attacking the trio. After all the zombie cats were beheaded, Leaks and Firi appear in front of the group, and reveal that Firi is Leaks' Sanga, as well as Leaks' reason for tormenting Konoe is that he wants to test Konoe.

After Leaks and Firi disappear, Rai pursues the fading Leaks, and Asato and Konoe chase after him. The two decide to split up, and as Konoe is searching, he is taunted by Leaks in his head. By a stroke of bad luck, Konoe encounters Ul and Kil again, and either Rai or Asato come to Konoe's assistance.
